Zion Lutheran Church

In the early morning hours of July 5^th, 2013, someone attempted to destroy Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church by starting a fire. An accelerant was thrown on an old wooden cross standing outside the Church walls, and also on the 116 year old Church building itself, and then it was lit on fire by one means or another. By the grace of God and through quick action by Church neighbors and the local fire department, the damage – although great – was not enough to destroy either the Church building or the spirit of its congregants. Members of Zion have felt the overwhelming unity and support from both the area communities at large and the religious community in particular, and we are humbled. We are grateful to be reminded, in these trying times, that God’s Church and His people cannot be destroyed at the whim of someone with destruction in his heart, because His Church stands as one and together we survive to proclaim His Word. And that old wooden cross will continue to stand at Zion as a reminder to us all.

Zion has been gathering together as a community for 112 years. While we have been around awhile, we are always seeking new ways of living life together. We are a Christian community, part of the Lutheran tradition. As Christians we believe that a relationship with Jesus is central to life and that it gives life meaning and purpose. You are invited to come as you are and explore how a relationship with Jesus might impact your life.

Need prayer? We have sincere praying Christians who would be honored to pray for you, and Pastor Cyril can be contacted for prayer for any reason, on the phone and in person. Calls and e-mails are welcome for any type of question, such as, what is a Lutheran? What is a Christian? What does it take to get God's help in my life? How do we understand God in light of global events, such as Haiti, Japan, the Middle East, the tornadoes in the U.S.? Where was God when all these terrible things happened?
